An Alocasia with thick, silver leaves and dark green veins. The silver covers most of the leaf, so the veins stand out clearly. 'Silver Dragon' is a form of Alocasia baginda, with smoother and paler leaves than 'Dragon Scale'.
Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry. Too much water is the main risk: never leave it standing in water. Bright, indirect light, no direct midday sun. Keep it above 16 °C. It grows better in humid air.
Grows upright at a steady pace, with a new leaf every few weeks in spring and summer. Each new leaf is usually bigger than the last. In the cool, dark months it can slow down or drop a leaf, then regrow in spring. It stays fairly compact, about 45 cm when mature.
Native to the forests of Borneo. Toxic to cats and dogs. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
