An Alocasia with deeply lobed, arrow-shaped leaves in dark green, with darker veins on every leaf. The long stems are spotted brown.
Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry, and let the excess drain: never leave it standing in water. Bright, indirect light, no direct midday sun. Keep it above 16 °C and away from draughts. It grows better in humid air.
Grows upright at a steady pace, with a new leaf every few weeks in spring and summer. In the cool, dark months it can slow down or drop a leaf, then regrow in spring. It reaches about 45 cm when mature.
A cultivated hybrid; the genus grows wild in the rainforests of tropical Asia. Toxic to cats and dogs. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
