A self-heading Philodendron with long, pointed leaves. New leaves open bright orange, turn copper and then green over a few weeks. A grown plant carries orange, copper and green leaves at the same time.
Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry, about once a week in summer and less in winter. Bright indirect light keeps the new leaves orange. It copes with a dimmer spot, but the orange is paler there and fades to green sooner. Keep it above 15 °C and away from cold draughts.
It grows at a steady pace, with a new leaf every few weeks in spring and summer. It does not climb: the stem stays short and the leaves grow from the centre, so it forms an upright clump. Over several years it reaches about 60 to 80 cm tall and wide.
A hybrid bred in cultivation from Philodendron species native to the rainforests of Central and South America. Toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
