A peace lily with long, pointed leaves that are mostly white, with green streaks and flecks. Every leaf has its own pattern. Most peace lilies in shops are plain green.
Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry. If you forget, the leaves droop, and they stand back up within a few hours of a drink. It copes with a dimmer spot, but the white parts need bright, indirect light to stay white. Keep it out of direct sun, above 16 °C and away from cold draughts.
It grows at a steady pace, a little slower than a green peace lily, because the white parts of the leaf have no chlorophyll. New leaves come up from the base, so it fills out into an upright clump. Over the years it can reach 60 to 100 cm. Mature plants can flower, usually in spring, with white flowers on tall stems.
Native to the tropical rainforests of Central and South America. Toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
