A Pilea with bright green, deeply quilted leaves. The surface is covered in small raised bumps and the edges are toothed. On 'Moon Valley' the main veins are a darker brownish green.
Water when the top 2 to 3 cm of soil are dry. If it goes too dry the leaves droop, but they usually stand back up within a few hours of watering. Bright, indirect light is best, and it copes with a dimmer spot. Keep it above 13 °C and out of draughts. It likes a bit of extra humidity.
Grows at a steady pace into a low, bushy mound about 25 to 30 cm wide. Pinch the tips to keep it full. Small clusters of pinkish flowers can appear in summer. Cuttings root easily in water.
Native to the rainforests of Central and South America. Non-toxic to cats and dogs. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
