A climbing Philodendron with long, heart-shaped leaves. Each leaf is speckled with cream, and some have whole sections of white. The pattern is stable: 'Jose Buono' rarely turns back to plain green.
Water once the top few centimetres of soil are dry, roughly once a week. Bright, indirect light keeps the pattern strong. In a dim spot, new leaves come out greener. Keep it above 18 °C and away from cold draughts. In humid air the leaves grow larger.
Grows at a steady pace and climbs. With a moss pole the leaves get bigger as it goes up: on an older plant they can reach 60 cm long. Without support it leans to one side. Given a pole and a few years, it can reach 1.5 m or more.
A cultivated variety. Wild Philodendrons grow in the rainforests of Central and South America. Toxic to cats and dogs. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
