A croton with long, glossy leaves in green, red and orange, covered in yellow and orange spots. On 'Bush on Fire' some leaves stay mostly green with yellow spots, while others turn almost fully red. Many of the leaves twist.
Give it a bright spot with a few hours of direct sun. In shade the colours fade and the new leaves come in green. Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry, and don't let it dry out completely. Keep it above 16 °C and out of draughts. Once it has settled, leave it in place: moving it or letting it get cold makes it drop leaves.
Grows at a steady pace into an upright, bushy plant. After several years indoors it can reach 60 cm or more. New leaves start green and take on their colour as they mature.
Native to Indonesia, Malaysia and the western Pacific islands. Toxic to cats and dogs, and the sap can irritate skin. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
