A velvet anthurium with heart-shaped, dark green leaves and pale silver veins. The leaf surface is matt with a soft, velvety feel. New leaves often come out copper-coloured and turn green later.
Use an airy, chunky mix that drains quickly. Water when the top few centimetres are dry. Bright, indirect light. It needs high humidity to keep the leaf edges clean, so a bathroom, a plant cabinet or a humidifier helps. Keep it above 18 °C and away from draughts.
Slow grower, a few leaves a year on a short upright stem. Each new leaf is bigger than the last, and on older plants the leaves can grow past 50 cm.
Native to the forests of Peru. Toxic to cats and dogs if eaten. Ships in a 6 cm pot.
